DENGUE, MALARIA & FILARIA AWARENES

During this year we have organized Malaria & Filaria eradication program at Brahmeswar patna Basti on dated 19/03/2019 and 125 no slum peoples were participated. In this meeting slum Secretary, President, our Paramedical staff, Doctor and chief functionaries of GJS have attended the meeting and given massage how to prevent the Malaria, Dengue and filaria in slum area. On the occasion we have engage one Pala Team consisting of 6 no of artists to explain the causes of the dieses like Dengue, Malaria and Diarrhea and also preventive measures of the said dieses by playing Pala. 20 no of Pala Programs have arranged and played in urban slum as well as on rural areas of Balipatana, Khordha and Jatani & Pipil Blocks.

Mobile Health Unit (MHU)

Under the project of NHM, Govt of Odisha GJS have one mobile health Unit (MHU) which having one allopathic doctor, one ANM and one pharmacist. The mobile health unit has covered 205 slums of Bhubaneswar city and the health screening and treatment has done in a well- planning manner to cover all the slums equally. The monthly report as well as weekly report of the MHU has shared with NHM regularly throughout the year. In the year 2018-19 total 12679 patients were treated from December 2018.Among them due to serious illness 197 patients were referred to higher institute for better treatment. The diagnosis with specific disease is given in below graph.

Training to Front Line Workers

The activities of front line workers and their contribution to reduce the IMR. MMR and Under 5 mortality rate is a tremendous achievement under NHM model. In this year under Nation Urban Health Mission the urban ASHAs are trained by NHM resource persons and the total training was organized by GJS under P-P-P model. From 23rd March to 30th March 2019 the induction training of UASHA and 36 participants participated in the training ICDS model is the best model to prevent the under 5 mortality and under the program VHND or MAMTA Diwas has been celebrating to prevent malnutrition and under 5 mortality. The same model has introduced by Urban Health mission named as UHND and a training program for UASHAs and AWWs was organized to aware and make them understand about activities and importance of Urban Health Nutrition Day (UHND).The training was held from 26th to 29th Feb 2019 and around 66 UASHAs and AWWs participated in the training

Formation and orientation of Rogi Kalyan Samiti

In the year 2018-19 GJS has formed 02 Rogi Kalyan Samiti at PHCs of Brhmeswar Patna and Kapila Prasad, Bhubaneswar. GJS give them supportive supervision and monitoring the work of RKS in PPP Model of NHM, Govt of Odisha

Formation and orientation of Ward Kalyan Samiti

In the year 2018-19 GJS has formed 14 Word Kalyan Samiti and give them supportive supervision with the aim of development of the slum vulnerable population as well as the overall development of the slums. Word Kalyan Samiti is a community based organization formed under the chairman ship of the respective corporator and the memers of the samiti are Slum Development Officer, Sanitary Inspector, Junior Engineer, AWW, ASHA and other stakeholder (President and Secretary of MAS of all the slums of the words).

Mahila Arogya Samiti(MAS) formation and orientation and strengthening

In the year 2018-19 GJS has formed 105 Mahila Arogya Samiti (MAS) and oriented the members about the health, development facilities available for slum people so that they can help the poor people to access those facilities. GJS has given hands on supportive supervision to all 105 MAS members in their capacity building though opening of bank account and mobilize the money with a proper utilization for the community development.GJS has trained the MAS members about to create health resource mapping and built their capacity as per the guideline of NHM, Govt. of Odisha.

Slum Sensitization

In the year 2018-19 GJS has sensitized the various stake holders about various Govt. Schemes available for slum population and update them about the facilities to maintain the equity and equality among them in 115 slums of Bhubaneswar city under Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation.

Nutrition Health Education Day

In every month nutrition and health education day have been observing at 38 no of Anganwadi Centers in our project area. As per Govt. guidelines In this day all field level front line workers are present and organizing a mothers meeting and discussion exclusive breast feeding, complimentary and supplementary feeding. The ANM and link Volunteer supported to the front line workers in that particular day. They keep the weight of new born babies as well as the mothers. They also help in distribution of supplementary nutrition to the beneficiaries. no of such programs have been attended by the project staff.

Family Planning

The small family norm has been largely accepted and internalized by the people of Odisha. Slum populations have limited access to family planning services. The aim of family planning is to reduce fertility rate. The permanent family planning is needed for that. In the project area, awareness has been created among the slum people to take permanent family planning methods like tubectomy and vasectomy. During the period, 1 no of family planning camp have been organized and 9 no of permanent family planning (tubectomy) have done.

CBD Outlet

For birth spacing our Link Volunteers and ANMs formed CBD outlet in 16 no of slum and organizing meeting regular interval. In this meeting our staffs to counseling the eligible couple and also adolescent girl maintain spacing one child to another child by using of temporary method like oral pills and condom. We are providing oral pills and condoms to eligible couple every month through CBD out let. During this year total 2456 no eligible couples were benefitted under this program.

Institutional Delivery

As per Project Mandate our Link Volunteers and ANMs were create awareness in slum level through home visit and community meeting for utility of Institutional delivery instead of unsafe Home delivery. As per budget guidelines we are providing free conveyance charges to the beneficiaries for their movement to the nearby Govt. hospitals and First Referral Unit (FRU). During this year 332 cases of institutional delivery conducted.

Antenatal Care

After delivery the project provided postnatal services to beneficiaries through our Link Volunteers and ANM. At the time of home visit our LV & ANM asking & counseling to mother on taking full meal 4times in a day, how many times change the pad, measure the temperature of child and colostrums fed to baby and continue exclusive breast feeding up to six month and also Examine to mother regarding discharge of foul smelling, feeds and cracked & engorged breast. After that advice to mother on child immunization schedule. During this year GJS provided 452 no postnatal services in our target area.

IEC/BCC

Demand generation will cover mass media, mid media and IPC and other community based activities such as BCC, as per the need of the project Mass media and mid media would be used depending on the availability of material from the public sector. However interpersonal communication towards BCC would form the basis of the program. In addition the project would organize street plays, wall painting (Swasthy Kantha) to communicate with the people and also conduct competitions and other activities to increase community participation and awareness. This program will also create demand for services related to health and its determinants through various groups which already exist and also with the groups to be formed in the intervention area.

Immunization Program

As per Govt. schedule our Link Volunteers and ANMs are motivating the beneficiaries like Pregnant Women and parents to attend the immunization sessions. In that process link Volunteers and ANMs are inform to the beneficiaries before one day and also immunization day our staffs visit to slum and door to door campaign to ensure immunization as per due list. Apart from our staffs are engaged also special Immunization program and ensure dropout/left out beneficiaries as per Govt. schedule. During this year we are covered 1500 beneficiaries in 86 no of immunization sessions by our Link Volunteers and ANM.

Outreach Health Camp

As per USHP guideline we have organized outreach health camp in slum area (those slums are inconvenient to access OPD service) in fixed day like every Saturday with advance intimation and motivation in the particular slum by the Link Volunteers. Similar facilities like general health check up and free medicines are being provided in this camp. These camps are being managed by the Doctor, Pharmacist, ANM and Link Volunteers. 2067 no of patients have got benefited on 27 no of outreach health camps during the year 2012-13.

Referral Services

As envisaged in the fore going paragraph, complicated cases like accidental cases, diarrheal dieses, malaria, TB, institutional delivery, sterilization cases etc are being referred to the nearest Govt. hospitals, dispensaries and First Referral Unit (FRU). In that process GJS develop a referral slip for referred patient for tracking information for monitoring. During this year Urban Health Centre provide 785 cases as referral.

OPD service

With the support from NRHM,Odisha & BMC,Bhubaneswar the Gopinath Juba Sangha (GJS) manage Urban Health Centre at KARGIL BASTI in ward No. 30. GJS provide curative service like OPD services and referral services to the slum inhabitants with free medicines. As per the norms of NRHM,Odisha one part time Doctor, one Pharmacist and one Staff Nurse are engaged and rendering the OPD services. The OPD opens at 8.00 am to 12.00 Noon & 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm at each working day except Sundays & National holidays. 12070 no of patients have been attended through the year.

Malaria & Falaria Radication Program

During this year we have organized Malaria & Filaria eradication program at Bhimatangi peoples Basti on dated 14/04/2013 and 62 no slum peoples were participated. In this meeting slum Secretary & President, Doctor-USHP and chief functionary of GJS were attend the meeting and given massage how to prevent the Malaria and filaria in slum area.

AIDS Awareness Program

For the year 2012-2013 Gopinath Juba sangha (GJS) organized World AIDS Day on 1st December 2012 in JANJYOTI SEVA SANGHA, Kedarpalli,Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar. In this meeting Mahila Arogya Samiti members, SHG Members, Community people and slum leaders were participate and share their knowledge on how to spread and also prevention of AIDS. The delegates of the meeting said how to prevent AIDS and role of Community people. In this meeting GJS provide leaflet on said topic.

Health Activities

During this year GJS organized Health Awareness program in Balipatana Block and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Bhubaneswar like outreach camp in different slums and also organized meeting with pregnant women, lactating women and eligible couple on Mother and Newborn child health.
